I am sick of fashion being just for the size 6's of the World, why do they get all the cute stuff while plus size girls get whatever the buyers can scrounge up for us? In a World where being a size 14 is the average why do we still have stick thin models? Magazines are happy to touch on the 'plus size' issue, but they don't have a regular plus size presence in thier fashion sections.
Being a young plus size woman myself I know the detrimental damage this can cause to young and teenage girls by presenting an unrealistic body image in mainstream media. The fact that designers are still using very clearly anorexic girls as thier models in this day and age is completely unacceptable.
The body image that is going on at the moment is just so inhumane. Having plus size models does not promote bad health! Its all about embracing all body types and loving yourself! The inclusion of plus size models as a permanent fixture in modern media should be a priority for all forms of text. By doing this we as humans are confirming that not only are we tolerant of different shapes and sizes we celebrate them.
